1 in 100 babies are born with a Congenital Heart Defect.  I didn't know this statistic until our baby was born with a CHD. Not once, but twice.

Liam Sebastian Burns was born on August 5th, 2010.  He had a full head of dark hair and was perfect...except for his broken heart.  We found out about his severe heart defects at our 20-week ultrasound.  We had hoped and prayed for him to be okay, but his heart defects were worse than we anticipated and he passed away on August 17th, only 12 days old.

Gloria Christine Burns was born on April 9th, 2015.  She was only 20 weeks when we also lost her to severe heart defects.  She was tiny, but beautiful.  She had the same chin as her siblings and a little button nose.  

 

We miss our babies every single day and would do anything to have them here with us.  I feel so grateful that they chose me to be their mommy.  They have made me the person I am today and I know they have impacted the lives of many others. 

 

I believe they had a hand in ensuring Eloise and Nolan came into our lives to give us so much joy.  And I know they're our guardian angels watching over us.  ​
